Holland Football University goes Canada

Holland Football University visited Garrincha Academy in Canada (Ontario, London) in August  (www.academygarrincha.com). The football academy of former pro José Figueiredo works with ambitious Canadian players and coaches. Figueiredo asked Holland Football University to show all facets of the Dutch way of training during an international soccer camp.

For this camp, there were coaches from Italy, Spain and England invited of Fiorentina, Arsenal and Benfica. Director Mary Kok-Willemsen and technical manager Jurgen Kok were responsible for the Dutch contribution.

Mary Kok-Willemsen: “It was great to be in Canada with Holland Football University. Jose is a true professional with a passion for coaching. The Canadian players and coaches were very open and eager to learn. They were all interested in the Dutch football philosophy. We were also pleasantly surprised by the level of the players. Typical of the players is the enormous drive to be better and stronger. The players are very fit, strong in the duel, but also have excellent functional skills and are mostly two-legged!

Holland Football University is in talks with Garrincha Academy to give the collaboration further shape.
